Our Mission

 

The English Graduate Student Organization is an society of and for the University of South Florida’s graduate students in the English Department. Every graduate student in the English program is automatically an EGSA member, and we invite everyone to become involved in EGSA activities. We host our academic colloquia every semester, as well as interdisciplinary conferences.

 

The EGSA works to build a community of English graduate students at USF and advocates on behalf of that community within the English department. We facilitate communication between the graduate student body and their elected representatives. We strive to improve the academic, professional, and personal experience of all graduate students by working to identify and voice their needs. Through an ongoing conversation among the department's administration and students, we hope to effect positive change and growth.

 

The EGSA seeks to be pragmatic and flexible in pursuing its dual objectives of building community and facilitating advocacy. The association's character and actions are determined by each year's members.
